The modern writer has fallen into a broken routine, so fixated on an arbitrary goal of "keeping up” that we often neglect the craft of writing: both our skill and our relationship to it. We have, ironically, completely lost the plot.

The Writers’ Burrow exists to pull us out of our broken routines and make writing feel more like an adventure on which we confidently embark every time we pick up the pen. But make no mistake: this is a place you’re allowed to write messily.

There are so many things the Burrow will be, so many tunnels and offshoots and cozy little dens for us to enjoy. I’m overjoyed to announce that the first of those is The Writers’ Burrow Mail Club.

An envelope in the mail. A letter from yours truly. A guided, one-hour writing exercise. An exclusive art print by a bookish artist. And the opportunity to gather virtually with the Burrow, all of us pausing to spend an hour together in equal parts comfortable solitude and lively conversation that leaves us feeling refreshed… Can you see it?

In case you missed it, snail mail is having a comeback. I see it not just as a trend, but a countercultural movement that forces us to slow down, appreciate the small joys, and connect with other humans.
Snail mail clubs involve a creator sending a monthly envelope to members containing something whimsical, fun, and often helpful. In this case, our mail club provides you with not only a guided writing exercise (none of those terrible, generic writing prompts, I promise), but also a letter from yours truly, a unique art print commissioned from a human artist, and other resources to help you dig deeper. And my favorite part: mail club members have the opportunity to gather virtually each month!
Each month, your envelope contains the following:
- A letter from me reflecting on a certain theme, skill, or topic
- A worksheet containing 60 minutes of guided, cohesive writing exercises related to that theme
- A physical goodie that serves as a reminder of your learning
- A bookish art print commissioned by a human artist specifically for the mail club
PLUS access to an optional virtual hour-long group call where all the Burrowers open our mail together and walk through the exercises, with the opportunity to hear from and work with other writers.
